Consultancy services
The Data Protection Acts of 1988 and 2003 provide the legislative framework for Data Protection in Ireland. These were enacted as a result of European directives and set out the conditions that allow the collection and retention of personal data.
Although many companies may be of the belief that it is an extra layer of bureaucracy that restricts their ability to do business the fact is that it is the law and there are financial penalties that can be imposed if found in contravention of the Act.
To help reduce the burden on SMEs, protectyourdata.ie offers consultancy services ranging from a simple half day overview of your present process with recommendations to providing some or all of the following:
- full review of your data life cycle processes from acquisition to destruction
- ensuring that your processes are compliant with the legislation
- assistance in development of policy documents
- provision of staff training
All consultancy services are provided by a certified Data Protection Practitioner. This certification was gained through an Office of the Data Commissioner approved course.
Please note: Although the advice and services offered are based on experience and constant research and study of best available methods, we do not hold legal qualifications. Consultation with your solicitor is recommended on specific points of law.
